On September 24, accompanied by the cheerful sounds of gongs and drums (gulou), Yongchuan District celebrated the 2021 "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival," along with the inaugural Rural Art Festival, held in Banqiao Town. Farmers joyfully welcomed the bountiful harvest in their own unique ways, coming together to showcase Yongchuan's latest agricultural achievements, the vibrant new look of rural areas, and the refreshed image of today's farmers.
Through a variety of unique, farmer-friendly activities—such as celebrating the harvest with millions of farmers, showcasing agricultural achievements, inviting社会各界 to discuss the bounty, encouraging nationwide participation in enjoying the丰收, and leveraging e-commerce promotions to boost sales—Yongchuan has prominently highlighted the remarkable growth stories of its farmers and the tremendous transformations in the region’s agricultural and rural development.
In Yongchuan, there are many new-generation professional farmers like Li Jian. Zhou Yuen has established a tea plantation spanning over 1,000 mu in Yongrong Town, not only earning substantial profits for himself but also providing local farmers with income—during the peak harvesting season, they can earn more than 200 yuan per day. Zhang Xiaohong, who moved to Hegeng Town in Yongchuan from Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, has successfully leveraged Yongchuan’s favorable policies to produce 2 million bags of edible mushrooms annually, generating annual sales of 10 million yuan. Looking ahead, Zhang Xiaohong is full of optimism, adding that her next step will be to further invest in advanced temperature-controlled equipment, aiming to achieve fully automated, factory-style production right here in Yongchuan.
At the day's event, farmer-actors also brought real-life stories from the fields to the stage, sharing how, with the support of the village-stationed work team, their communities have transitioned from poverty alleviation efforts to rural revitalization. Additionally, the event honored Yongchuan District's Top 10 New-Type Professional Farmers and recognized ten high-quality agricultural products from the district.
